The grinding train VM 8000 is employed with very great success to remove corrugations and short waves and for re-profiling the rail running head and the running edge. This train is also suitable for de-rusting rails prior to commencing operation. Both rails can be machined simultaneously with the VM 8000. It is adjustable for gauges from 900 mm to 1,458 mm. Auxiliary equipment for the grinding of irregularities in flat groove systems and transverse band grinding machine for improving the surface finish can be employed as an option. In addition to this, Unimog track grinding trains and various manual grinding machines are used.
